Some people consider that being rude to other people is their right. I disagree. And some people think that it’s ok to say harsh words to their partner when something goes wrong. I disagree with that too. No partner wants to hear unpleasant words from their loved one. When wrong words come from their loved one’s mouth, they are even more penetrating than if they had come from a stranger or work colleague. You must treat others with love and kindness, not bitterness and anger.

It is better in the long term for you not to take things for granted, if you are in a relationship. Respect is the strongest thread for safeguarding any relationship. Try to understand the importance of respect between you and your partner. S/he also needs the same level of respect that s/he shows for you. Feelings do not develop in a day, they take time, and your respectful behaviour acts like adhesive for keeping you and your relationship alive.

Being rude to each other is simply not acceptable. Some people justify their rudeness by saying “well, I’m right!”. Being on the right side is one thing – but it’s not an excuse to belittle others. In a relationship, maturity in behaviour is expected from both partners. Your rude behaviour may drive your more polite partner away some day. You need to be there for each other at all times, offering emotional support, and compassion as needed – not rudeness. If you must exercise your belief that you are in the right, then craft your words in a softer tone and convey them to your partner politely. There is no harm in discussing your feelings, but care should be taken not to sound too harsh.

You should always be nice when you can. Being positive and good will help your partner to reciprocate those feelings towards you. Instead of pointing towards other’s faults, try to locate and remove your own. Being good will add to your personality and help in making your relationships last forever. Don’t let others influence you with their rudeness. Be strong and firm while maintaining your positive outlook on life – don’t let others get you down!

No one is born perfect in this world. We all have moods and temperaments to handle. A relationship works due to the regular efforts by both the partners sharing a bond. If you are ready to work on your shortcomings or mood swings, your partner will also appreciate this and further help you. With a little care and open mindedness, overcoming rudeness will be easier.
