Riviera Hotel Las Vegas Liquidation Sale is May 4, 2015

The Riviera Casino Hotel in Las Vegas is closing, and will have its liquidation sale on May 4, 2015. I'm sad.

I learnt today that The Riviera Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada is closing, and will have it’s liquidation sale on May 4, 2015. Whilst that provides a good opportunity for Las Vegas locals to pick up a second hand blackjack table, roulette wheel and table, or slot machine, I’m very sad to see this Hotel Casino with 60 years of history closing.

Apparently it’s been purchased by the Las Vegas Convention and Visitor Authority, and will be torn down to make way for a billion dollar convention space. That’s not a bad use of the land, but there will be 1000 jobs gone, and for me, a classic piece of Las Vegas lost.

Every time I’ve been to Las Vegas over the years I’ve at least visited the Riviera. I’ve amassed Riviera coffee cups galore, key chains, and other branded items from my visits, as they always had good promotions on to attract tourists like myself. And in October last year, 2014, I stayed at the Riviera for the first time, and was very impressed with the value of the rooms for the money. It was classic Las Vegas, a blast from the past, but a friendly place to play for sure. And excellent value.

There’s nothing more certain in Las Vegas than change, so I guess this news shouldn’t be too surprising – after all, new casinos come and go all the time on the Las Vegas Strip. This doesn’t make it any easier for me to stomach however. I was hoping to stay there again on my next trip to Las Vegas – obviously that won’t be an option now. Guess I’ll have to play online and win some more cash for my holiday fund over the next few months – so that I can stay in the Las Vegas mega-resorts down the road.

I’ll start by playing at Sky Casino, part of BSkyB (SkyTV). Right now I (and therefore you) can get 20 pounds absolutely free, no deposit required, to try my luck on their games. It’s a limited time offer but a great opportunity just the case. Why don’t you join me by clicking the banner below? I always enjoy making free holiday fund money.
