A Night At Longhorn Casino Boulder Highway
I stayed one night at Longhorn Casino, out of a total fourteen nights in Las Vegas. Most of my trip was comped elsewhere, but one of those offers required a short break in stays, so I decided to try Longhorn rather than bounce between higher-end Strip properties. It turned out to be a perfectly reasonable choice.
Longhorn is located on the Boulder Strip, near Sam’s Town, with a large Walmart right next door, which was genuinely convenient. I popped in to pick up some grocery items, which is something you don’t easily do when staying on the Strip.
The hotel itself is basic but comfortable. I had a king bed room with a shower-over-bath setup — nothing fancy, but clean, functional, and exactly what I expected for a one-night stay. I paid around USD $100 via Expedia, with an additional local resort fee of $12.98 paid on arrival.
The casino is small and very local-feeling, but the staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay. It’s a little on the smoky side, which is fairly common for smaller off-Strip casinos, but nothing unexpected. Importantly, I felt perfectly safe on the property and around the area.
What really stood out was the value of the player comps. By signing up and playing, I received a pay $20, get $40 slot play offer, along with: A free breakfast voucher for hotel guests; A free drink voucher at the bar; and A free souvenir voucher.
With careful, conservative slot play, I managed to come out around $160 USD ahead, effectively turning the night into a free stay overall, which is always a satisfying result.
Longhorn doesn’t try to be anything it’s not. It’s not a destination casino, and it’s not pretending to compete with the Strip. What it offers instead is old-school Vegas value, straightforward rooms, generous comps for modest play, and genuinely friendly service.
For travellers who need a break between comped stays, or who don’t mind being off-Strip in exchange for value and simplicity, Longhorn does exactly what it promises — and in my case, it worked out very well.
