Malaysia is a beautiful country that has vibrant colors, loads of delicious spices, and warm tropical weather year round. It’s a popular tourist destination, and the country has just about everything you could hope to find on your vacation. Yes, coming to Malaysia you can have fun, relaxation, and entertainment on any days you choose. You can also visit the world’s largest casino (with 6,118 rooms, easily beating the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas for size), Genting Casino (also called the Genting Highlands Casino), way up high on a mountain peak. It’s an amazing experience – when I visited Genting, there was misty cloud in the sky, and a real feeling of wonderment when I pulled up at the resort. There are buses to Genting Casino from major Malaysian train stations, and also from Singapore.
Reaching Genting takes about an hour in a car or high speed bus from Kuala Lumpur. The resort is set at the top of a mountain peak, 2000 metres above sea level, in the Titiwangsa Mountains. It’s easily the most well known casino in Malaysia (and was also popular with Singapore residents until the Resorts World and Sands casinos were built in Singapore). It has a mixed Asian and European feel, and there are over 420 casino gaming tables, and around 3,140 slot machines, accessible 24 hours a day.
When I visited, I only stayed for the day, going to and from Genting on the bus service. When I reached Genting I realised how easy it was to get free rooms… very easy! For converting just a few hundred US dollars equivalent, you were guaranteed a free room, win or lose! I wish on reflection that I had done that, as the rooms looked very comfortable. The service at the casino was excellent.
I’ve called this the Genting resort, for good reason. Like a good five star hotel, the Genting resort area (with multiple hotels) has swimming pools, a shopping arcade, numerous restaurants (ranging from basic to more expensive cuisine), and a Disney-style theme park with rides for children of all ages. There’s lots of inexpensive alcohol flowing too, but you must be 18 to gamble or have alcoholic drinks. Here’s a photo taken at the indoor theme park of the Genting Highlands casino.
In case you’re wondering, Genting is the ONLY casino that you should play in, within Malaysia. You might find other casinos – but only the Genting casino has Government approval. From my own experience, once you’ve visited Genting, you’re not going to want to spend any time gambling elsewhere, anyway. Hopefully lady luck will shine on you when you visit this casino. I’m pretty sure I made a few dollars whilst on the property… in any case, I certainly had fun.
The Genting casino group has other casinos around the world, including in London, UK, and in Singapore (trading as the Resorts World Casino Singapore). Importantly, they are building a huge Asian-themed casino hotel resort in Las Vegas, complete with a mini replica Great Wall of China, which I believe is expected to be completed by 2016. When I was recently in Las Vegas, construction seemed to be coming along well – it’s going to be an amazing resort!
You might not realise it – but online casino players from around the world can play with Genting casinos online. There’s a fantastic joining offer for new players, with up to £1,000 (or other currencies) of casino deposit matching bonuses available. When you join, Genting will match your first deposit 100% from £10 to £500. Then they’ll give you further bonuses on other deposits, bringing the total match play funds up to a maximum of £1,000.
